If you like to start a dinner with a shrimp or crab appetizer, then this class is for you! I haven’t done a class focused on appetizers in a very, very long time. Well, it’s time – and I can’t think of a better palate to use for appetizers than shrimp and crab. However, for this class, it’s not just starring the crustaceans, oh no, for this class, we are going to make sauces to complement the seafood!
Since we are going to focus on the sauces, here’s what we are going to make. We will start with homemade mayonnaise as a base for our Smoked Portuguese Aioli and Tartar Sauce. We are also going to make a Remoulade and Mustard Sauce.
Now that we have these great sauces, we need some appetizers to put them on! We will use a stovetop smoker to smoke shrimp to go with the Smoked Portuguese Aioli sauce. We’ll make shrimp remoulade with – you guessed it – the remoulade sauce. We will also make Crab Cakes and try two sauces with that – a tartar sauce and a mustard sauce.
We’ll finish up with a nice lighter style dessert of Balsamic Glazed Strawberries over Homemade Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. This is one of my easy “go-to” desserts for the summer.
